Both RB Leipzig and PSG saw their pre-season schedules start with contrasting fortunes. The Red Bull owned franchise defeated the Ligue 1 Champions 4-2, to ensure they gained momentum facing the French giants to carry through into their remaining fixtures.

A large crowd had gathered for the match between the sides, which got underway and had the fans engaged immediately. RB Leipzig looked to take the game to Les Parisiens and played with no fear, despite conceding first. PSG's nineteen year-old French winger, Hervin Ongenda, opened the scoring after ten minutes from close range as he was left unmarked in the box to finish. It didn't take RB Leipzig long to respond as they done so through Terrence Boyd, who struck the leveller. The American was making his first official appearance for his side and marked it with a goal. Nicolas Douchez kept out a dangerous header from Joshua Kimmich but could do nothing as the ball fell into the feet of Boyd, who could hardly miss.

PSG soon put themselves ahead almost immediately as Jean-Christophe Bahebeck headed in a cross from Ongenda. This would prove to be the final time in the game that PSG found themselves leading RB Leipzig, despite the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who barely got out of first gear - with a poor miss after half-time highlighting this. Six minutes into the second half saw RB Leipzig find an equaliser again. Yussuf Poulsen scored from an acute angle to put his side ahead as the underdogs continued with a 'never-say-die' attitude, albeit in a friendly.

Denis Thomalla's volley in the sixty-fifth minute saw RB Leipzig take the lead before Stefan Hierlander's shot found the back of the net, via Marquinhos. A cruel deflection which sealed the fate of the game and saw Leipzig head into their pre-season prepartions for life in 2.Bundesliga in some style. For PSG, however, it's back to the training field to ensure they do not suffer anymore defeats to teams they should be breezing past.
