In the past year, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has seen himself make the jump from the Bayern Munich youth ranks to the senior side. Last term he made two starts and five sub appearances in the league. He was also capped by Denmark in an international friendly. On a sadder note, Højbjerg lost his father at just 18 years old this past April. At the time he revealed even coach Pep Guardiola was reduced to tears by the events surrounding his father.

Højbjerg opened with "I've taken a very big step. I was still a youth player a year ago, but now I feel part of the first team. "

"Whenever Pep hands me a chance, I won't let him down. I'm looking forward to gaining match practice."

Infront of the gathered journalists at the MLS All star pre-match press conference he also spoke about his dressing room friends, "Franck Ribéry talks to me a lot, and so does Holger Badstuber."

When asked about Badstuber's recovery from injury,

"I'm so impressed by him, the way he's battled back from injury."

"We seem to have struck up a specially close relationship, probably because he's been through dark times as well"

"The team spirit is amazing, there's so much mutual respect. I have a very good feeling."
