SV Werder Bremen have sacked head coach Robin Dutt – as well as assistant coach Damir Buric and goalkeeping coach Marco Langner.

The trio have been relieved of their duties following a series of poor performances which see them at the foot of the Bundesliga, which included a 6-0 loss at home to Bayern Munich and ultimately Dutt received his knockout blow last night – losing 1-0 to FC Köln.

“We would like to thank Robin Dutt and his team,” Thomas Gauge told the club’s website. “He has maneuvered SV Werder with great passion in recent months through a difficult phase.

“However, according to recent results, we believe that the team needs a new impulse to get out of the current situation.”

Former-Bremen player, and Under-23 coach, Viktor Skripnik will take charge of the team ahead of their match against 1.FSV Mainz 05.

“We have stepped up our talent with him in the past few years, he was an important component and now he gets to continue this chance in the Bundesliga.

“We are convinced that he brings everything back to give the team confidence and the means to win games and develop,” said a club statement.

Officially notified about his new role this morning, Skripnik said: “We were close in the last few months to it and I know every single player.

“I am sure we will overcome this problem. We have taken a path and we are now implemented with great passion.”

The 44-year old played 138 games for Werder Bremen and has promoted Torsten Frings, Christian Vander and Reinhard Schnittker as part of his staff.
