Fresh from their triumph in the Europa League this week against FK Krasnodar, Wolfsburg return home to take on Mainz 05 in Matchday 9 of the Bundesliga season.

Mainz look to make it nine matches unbeaten with a win at the Volkswagen Arena, while victory could even (for the moment) take them a point clear of second-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach, who play Bayern Munich at 5pm (Check out Jonny's preview here). Wolfsburg go into the contest on 14 points, having won three of their four home league games in 2014/15.

In the Wolfsburg camp, it is still uncertain whether in-form full back Ricardo Rodriguez will start following his absence from the squad in midweek, Rodriguez has scored four in ten games for the Wolves in an advance position. Striker Ivica Olic picked up a slight knock in Russia, this past Thursday but he is set to be available as is Aaron Hunt and Nicklas Bendter who both sat out the 4-2 win.

Kasper Hjulmand was dealt a blow last weekend as Jonas Hofmann was stretchered off in their 2-1 win over FC Augsburg, the on-loan Dortmund midfielder is set to miss the foreseeable future with torn knee ligaments. Sami Allagui or former Wolves midfielder Ja-Koo Cheol is set to replace the injured youngster.

Wolfsburg currently sit in fifth position and come into this clash after they secured the third win in a row, their first away from home in their win which they secured against SC Freiburg, beating them 1-2. The 05ers had a very poor start under Hjulmand, seeing his side knocked out of the Europa League and the DFB Pokal in the first round, following this poor run Mainz have reignited last seasons hot form and have strung together an eight-match unbeaten run.

Wolfsburg have won seven of the two sides' last 16 Bundesliga meetings, including last season's corresponding fixture which Wolfsburg won comfortably 3-0.  Mainz have five wins at the Volkswagen Arena.

Dieter Hecking, Wolfsburg head coach: "It'll be important for us to take something from the game on Sunday."

Kasper Hjulmand, Mainz head coach: "Wolfsburg have won four of there last five. We know it's going to be a tough game."
