Early dominance from FSV Frankfurt looked to have got the better of Erzgebirge Aue but the 2.Bundesliga minnows fought back to earn a point in matchday 12.

Frankfurt took the lead midway through the first half when Joan Oumari found the back of the net following a well worked move, as the hosts controlled much of the possession early on. Aue pushed for the equaliser and persistence eventually paid off 15 minutes from time when Stipe Vucur pounced on a cross.

Both sides came in to the game following losses in their DFB-Pokal ties. The hosts lost to Hoffenheim whilst Aue, played 120 minutes in Leipzig as they ran out 3-1 winners.

Aue were looking to press the hosts early on which forced referee, Christain Dietz in to dishing out two yellow cards in the opening 12 minutes for Aue.

It was however, Frankfurt who started off the better of the two sides, dominating posession early on with Zlatko Dedic coming close in the opening stages.

Frankfurt's time did finally come however when a long ball played out to Vincenzo Grifo, who finds Mario Engels - the midfielder then plays the ball in to Oumari who fires his shot low and hard beyond Martin Männel, and the Aue keeper didn't stand a chance.

It was perhaps a case of tired legs for Aue as they looked wearly following conceding - whilst Frankfurt looked to push on to double their lead before half-time.

Marc Andre Kruska controlled the midfield for Frankfurt and his effort flew just over the crossbar, as moments later, Aue had a penalty appeal waved away from Dietz. Arvydas Novikovas seemed to have been brought down however the referee in fact blew for an earlier foul on Frankfurt player Bittroff.

Grifo then had the chance to double the hosts leads just before the two teams went in to half-time. The forwards shot however was straight at Männel who gathered the ball with ease.

Mike Könnecke and Dorian Diring then came on for Aue but it was Frankfurt again who looked the most like scoring in the opening minutes of the second-half, this time it was Dedic who came close.

With 20 minutes left to play - it was Aue who were on top, and two substitutes combined for Aue's equaliser. Fabian Müller played a neat ball in to Patrick Schönfeld who then crossed low and hard to find Vucur, who got ahead of the Frankfurt defender to net the equaliser.

The pressure then started to pile on for Frankfurt, as the home fans grew restless at the amount of misplaced passes, Aue looked like scoring again.

It took Frankfurt 35 minutes to record their first shot on target in the second-half, and it was a week one at that - as the hosts looked lost on the pitch. However, substitute Edmond Kapllani nearly had Frankfurt back in the lead five minutes from time but his effort was straight in to the hands of Männel who looks assured between the posts.

Schönfeld then had a chance to score a late winner for Aue, and it would have been no more than deserved. With time and space on his side, the substitute hits the ball in to the hands of Patric Klandt who hadn't had much to do in the 90 minutes.

With practically the final kick of the game, Grifo had the chance to win it in extra time for Frankfurt. A dead-ball situation in added time, Grifo took the costless-kick from 20-yards which cleared the wall, but also the left post, by inches.

The result now means that Frankfurt have just one point more than Aue, who are just sitting above the relegation zone in 15th place.
