FC Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz has been ruled out for the rest of the year, after injuring knee ligaments at the weekend.
Markus Weinzierl's men have been dealt a massive blow, with Marwin Hitz becoming a crucial member of their recent successes. The former-Wolfsburg goalkeeper has improved markedly in the past few seasons and will be a huge miss for die Fuggerstädter. Hitz suffered a partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, during his side's 1-0 win over Stuttgart on Sunday.
The Swiss stopper had this to say, "With injuries, there is never a good time, but right now I am very annoyed because I felt in really good form. But I am optimistic and looking forward. I will do everything to be fit as fast as possible." Veteran custodian Alex Manninger will be his replacement, though he has looked shaky in recent seasons. The clean-sheet on Sunday was Hitz' fifth and, with him a fixture in every game this year, Augsburg will be counting down the days until his return.
