Gertjan Verbeek was officially presented as the new VfL Bochum manager on Monday, after confirmation on Sunday.

The Dutchman, who was recently in charge of FC Nürnberg, has signed until 2016 with the Ruhr Valley club. Although that wasn't a success, Verbeek is determined to get it right this time. Sporting director Christian Hochstätter beamed, after getting the man he'd wanted.

"The challenge is to play attractive football and earn more points. I try to play football, that the spectators like. And it is only fun when you have the ball," said Verbeek, who is determined to get Bochum back in to the Bundesliga, "The club and I have the ambition, to return Bochum to the Bundesliga as quickly as possible."

He succeeds Peter Neururer, who had VfL unbeaten in their first seven games. That's something that the Dutch coach appreciates, "The team has done well in the first seven games of the season. They can play well, there's no question about that."

However, there are no plans to bring in any new faces at Bochum. Felix Bastian will return after his contract was terminated at Hertha Berlin, but that is the only deal that seems to be on the cards. They currently sit in mid-table, in eleventh, seven points from the relegation play-off place.
