Marlon Ritter and Bilal Sezer have both extended their contracts with Borussia Mönchengladbach until 2017.

“Both players are among top performers of our Under-23s, which play a very good role in the regional league,” said Sporting Director Max Eberl. “We trust them both with the leap into the Bundesliga, just like Marvin Schulz and Mo Dahoud since the beginning of the season.”

Mönchengladbach are known for their youth academy. Eberl told the clubs website: “We continue to pursue consistently from junior to the pros. Since we moved in July 2004 to the Borussia Park, 20 talents from our own youth have made the jump to the Bundesliga.

“This means an average of two per year and we are very proud.”

Ritter, 20 moved Borussia from Rot-Weiss Essen in 2011 and can be deployed in both midfield and attack. Currently in the U23, Ritter is playing his second season in the Regionalliga West. In his first season, the German scored seven goals in 27 games whilst he already has eight to his name this season in 17 games.

Sezer, also 20 has been at the club since the age of eight. From an early age, Sezer was retrained as a defensive midfielder and, under the guidance of U23 coach Sven Demandt, the German has since excelled.
