Bayern Munich chairman Karl Heinz-Rummenigge has publicly insisted to the media, that there is no rush, when it comes to extending Pep Guardiola's contract with the club. His current deal runs out in 18 months' time, and in his first season alone with Bayern, he managed to win four trophies; DFB-Pokal, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and the Bundesliga

The Spanish manager, 44, was being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, prior to his surprising arrival at the Bundesliga giants back in 2013. Before then, he was flourishing and established himself as one of the best coaches in world football, at La Liga giants Barcelona

Rummenigge told Catalan newspaper Ara, the following on Guardiola's future: "I've told him that I'm not going to ask him in the coming months about his contract, we're not going to do anything before the summer and then maybe we'll talk in the second-half of 2015. He can stay here for as long as he wants but Pep is not the kind of person who needs security, he doesn't need a five-year contract or to know that he will earn so much money at Bayern. That is not Pep Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola lives for today and I accept that. He's a fantastic coach.

Guardiola is set to enjoy yet more silverware with Bayern in the second-half of the 2014-15 campaign; the Bavarians are eleven points clear at the top of the league table as it stands, as well as being in the Last 16 of the DFB-Pokal.

They were outclassed and outperformed over the two legs by eventual winners Real Madrid last year in the UEFA Champions League, which is the competition they will be looking at winning for sure this time out. Bayern face Shakthar Donetsk in the first round of knock-out stages, in February.
