Schalke 04 have agreed a deal to sign 17-year old Swedish midfielder, Christian Rubio from Allsvenskan side, Djurgårdens IF Fotboll.
Whilst the two clubs have agreed the deal, Rubio will travel to Gelsenkirchen on Monday to sign a contract until 30 June 2018.
“We are very confident of Christian. He has repeatedly struck us positively. He will be brought to the first team squad by engaging in training with the U19s,” said director of Schalke 04’s youth academy, Oliver Ruhnert.
He added on the club’s website: “Christian is regarded as one of Sweden’s largest talents that is in high demand on the European market. That is why we are happy that he has chosen us.”
The 17-year old has featured in six first-team matches for Djurgårdens this season, as well as making an appearance in Sweden’s U19 side having impressed in the U17s.
