Mainz 05 have secured a loan deal, with an option to buy, for Nicolas Castillo of Club Brugge.

The 21-year-old forward joined Brugge from CD Universidad Catolica in January 2014, before going on to score 13 goals in 38 games.

He made his debut for the national team in 2013 and will provide back-up to leading goal-scorer Shinji Okazaki.

Christian Heidel was happy to have added some much needed squad depth, "We were looking for an additional option for our team in attack and are pleased that we have found this in Nicolas Castillo. He is a goalscoring striker who can provide with his unfussy, dynamic way and has already proved his scoring prowess."

Castillo himself gave his thoughts on the move, "Mainz 05 and the Bundesliga are the next step for me in my development. I am a player who always fights for his team and everything, therefore I am now going to get to know my new team and my new club."

The Chilean could make his debut against Paderborn on Saturday, as Mainz make their return from the winter break.
