On Monday, Fortuna Düsseldorf announced the sacking of head coach Oliver Reck and that Taskin Aksoy would take charge in the interim.

The 2. Bundesliga outfit were sitting fourth before the winter break, but have failed to win any of their games since and Helmut Schulte felt it was time for change.

Schulte, sporting director for Fortuna, told the club website: "The performance this season - especially in the Esprit Arena - is not satisfying, we want these personnel changes to send a clear message to the team that the season is not yet history for us. On the contrary, we want to quickly get back on track with a new coach."

Reck had been in charge twice as interim head coach, before finally taking the reigns for this season. While their away form has been fantastic, they've taken just 13 points from a possible 33 at home.

Schulte paid tribute to the work done by Reck in his time at the club, "We thank Oliver Reck for his dedication and commitment during his one-and-a-half year stay at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Above all, his behaviour during the two phases as interim coach was remarkable and exemplary."

Taskin Aksoy, who was coaching the second team, will replace the 49-year-old. He will take charge of his first training session on Wednesday, aiming to prepare them for their weekend clash with 1. FC Heidenheim.
