After beating Sporting CP in the previous round, Wolfsburg welcome Inter Milan to the Volkswagen Arena.

A surprise Bundelsiga defeat to Augsburg on Saturday will trigger a reaction from the Wolfsburg squad.

They face an Inter Milan side who squeezed past Celtic in the last side, and have stuggled domestically. Inter currently sit ninth in Serie A.

Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne felt the weekend's result was a consequence of fatigue but insists that won't be a factor in Thursday's game.

"You're on the go the whole time, you never get to relax and you also don't get enough sleep. That's something we really felt," De Bruyne told the club's official website. "But we were under the same strain last week and we managed to deal with that."

De Bruyne went on to add: "It was our wish to play so many games, so we are not going to start using tiredness as an excuse."

Inter go into the game in fairly good form, having lost only once in their last seven games.

Inter manager Roberto Mancini recognises the tough task he faced when he joined but praised the work of the team: "When I came in, the squad was low on morale because of some negative results. But I found a very willing group of players and they've improved extremely quickly. You don't often get a group capable of making such progress, and it certainly wasn't easy to change things with the season in full flow."

In team news, Wolfsburg have Aaron Hunt missing through injury and Ivan Perisic, Max Arnold and Patrick Drewes are all doubts. Other than that, Dieter Hecking is able to name perhaps his strongest starting XI.

For the visitors, Marcelo Brozovic is inelegible to feature and could be replaced in the starting XI from the weekend's draw with Napoli by Hernanes, though Mateo Kovacic is pushing for a starting spot. Lukas Podolski almost misses out as he was not included in the squad list for the latter stages of the Europa League. Yuto Nagatomo and Jonathan are both doubts, which means Danilo D'Ambrosio and Davide Santon will likely start in defence.

The visitors face a tough trip to Germany, with Wolfsburg progressing well in the Bundesliga and the hosts haven't conceded a goal in their last three Europa League games.

Inter, however, are undefeated in their last 11 Europa League matches and after a good point away at Napoli at the weekend, they go in to this game with a lot of confidence.

Dieter Hecking will be hoping in-form striker Bas Dost will continue his goal-scoring run to edge themselves in front going into the second leg. The German side have won seven out of their 10 competitive games in 2015, with their only defeat coming at the weekend, so it is all set up to be an exciting fixture.
