At the Hardtwaldstadion on Easter Sunday, two own goals was all that was needed for Sandhausen and Union Berlin to share the spoils.

In the third minute, Wooten was able to get free down the left flank and he sent a ball in towards Aziz Bouhaddouz, unfortunately, he was unable to control the ball and Daniel Haas snuffed out the danger. Lukas Kübler was hit a cross from the right side of the pitch sharply towards the six yard box. For whatever reason, Union Berlin was unable to clear their lines and the ball deflected off of Christopher Trimmel and into the back of the net at the sixth minute mark. Six minutes later, Kevin Kratz had a set piece opportunity, however, his delivery was fairly poor and Union were able to pump the ball back the other way.

Wooten got into a good position down the left flank in the 17th minute and sent a lovely ball into the box. Unfortunately for him, there was no one waiting in the box to get on the end of the cross. Sandhousen was by far the better team in the opening 45 minutes, they would get into some good areas up the pitch but it was their final pass was lacking as they could not break down the Union defense. With ten minutes left to go Vladimir Sulejmani scampered up the middle of the park, beat two defenders, but he just could not beat the third. It was a good sine for Union Berlin as they had been struggling most of the match worthwhile in their final 1/3rd of the field.

The second half started out much of the way the first 45 ended. The hosts were attacking up the pitch on the counter, trying to catch Union offguard while playing solid defense at the same time. Against the run of play, Union Berlin were able to equalize the match off of another own goal. This time, Trimmel was on the right end of things as his header caused a bit of havoc inside the box and Achenbach could not clear the ball properly as the ball trickled into the back of the net.

This result pushes Union Berlin into the ninth position in the second division, level on points with Bochum while Sandhausen remain just one point below Nürnberg in 13th.
