Bayern Munich veteran goalkeeper Tom Starke will be out of action for the next four weeks after tearing a ligament in his right ankle in training.

The Bundesliga champions confirmed via Twitter that Starke had suffered a lateral collateral ligament tear during team training on Sunday.

The-34 year old is still yet to start a single competitive match this season for the table toppers due to being bumped down the pecking order since the arrival of experienced keeper, Pepe Reina last summer as cover for World Cup winner, Manuel Neuer.

Starke's last appearance for the Bavarians came in August when the club took part in the MLS All Star game in which they lost 2-1. Over the course of the season Starke has watched on from the bench six times, the most recent coming in Bayern's brilliant 4-0 battering of Bremen at the Allianz Arena.

The former-German U21 has been at Bayern Munich since 2012, having appeared for Hoffenheim, Duisburg and Paderborn.
