Sebastian Kehl’s heroics have put Borussia Dortmund through to the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal, after netting a long-range winner in extra time.

"I did not know Sebastian can do that," Jürgen Klopp told reporters. "The team has done great.

"It was dramatic. Both teams have carved out everything. Tonight is good for all of us," Klopp added. "The cup final in Berlin is for me the most awesome finale ever. It is necessary to go there."

Nevan Subotic opened the scoring in the early stages before two quick-fire goals from Kevin Volland and Roberto Firmino put the hosts in the lead at half-time. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised for Dortmund before Kehl scored after 108 minutes.

The result means Dortmund are now through to their third DFB-Pokal semi-final in four years, winning the compeition in 2012 with a 5-2 victory over Bayern Munich.

Erik Durm featured in his sides 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim. He told reporters: "This game speaks for the team. We're just happy."

Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg are already through having beaten SC Freiburg on Tuesday evening, whilst Bayern Munich face a trip to Bayer Leverkusen and 3.Liga leaders, Arminia Bielefeld host Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday night.

The semi-finals will take place on 28 and 29 April.
