Hoffenheim travel to Köln on Sunday trying to get back to winning ways after their 3-2 defeat in the DFB Pokal to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. After falling behind thanks to a Neven Subotic header, Hoffenheim struck twice in a matter of six minutes to give themselves a one-goal lead. After Aubameyang's equalizer, it took a wonder strike from Sebastian Kehl to send Dortmund through to the semifinals of the cup. Köln's last match on the other hand would be a defeat, just like their opponents as Mike Frantz's header was the difference maker.

The last time these two teams met back in November, it was a shootout. Adam Szalai kicked off the goalfest scoring just within three minutes, but Pawel Olkowski struck just three minute later to level it. Lehmann would give Köln the lead just seven minutes later. Anthony Ujah made it 3-1, however, Hoffenheim's star man, Roberto Firmino, found the back of the net twice in a matter of six minutes to level things at three-a-piece at the break. The deadlock was broken by Olkowski just six minutes from time to give Köln all three points.

The last five league games for Köln have been a disappointment picking up only one win and five points in their last five leaving them in fifteenth place just five points above the relegation playoffs. Hoffenheim have just done slightly better than Koln by picking up two wins and seven points in their last five games. The history between these two teams are pretty even as Köln holds the slight edge in wins with five compared to four for Hoffenheim, with three draws. Hoffenheim have not beaten Köln in the league since their third-ever meeting back in 2008.
