Hertha BSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck made his return to action this weekend, playing in the Regionalliga Nordost for the under-23 side.

The 19-year-old made a name for himself in the final game of the 2013/14 Hinrunde, when he played brilliantly against Borussia Dortmund. It was his first Bundesliga game and the capital club secured a 1-2 win, making several crucial saves.

"After 230 days, it was an amazing feeling to stand again on the pitch," admitted Gersbeck on his Facebook page. The match marked the end of his eight-month absence, as he played the full ninety minutes in a 1-1 draw with VFC Plauen.

In August last year, he had suffered a tear in the meniscus of his right knee for the fourth time, he also was suffering from a bone marrow edema in the foot. Gresbeck still has a contract until 2017 with the Olympiastadion side, but will continue with the U23 team in order to get match fitness and recover physically from so many set-backs.
