Sebastian Polter will return to 1. FSV Mainz this summer, leaving 1. FC Union Berlin without a star-striker. It's been rumored that Florian Niederlechner of 1. FC Heidenheim could be the man to pick up the goalscoring burden.

Polter has been in fantastic form for the capital club this season, leading their front-line and scoring eleven goals in the process. The league's fourth highest scorer is on-loan from Mainz, who have confirmed that he'll return to play for them next season.

That leaves Norbert Düwel with quite a dilemma. He'll need to replace Polter and with rumours linking many strikers away from their respective clubs, the Union head coach will want to tie up any business quickly. German tabloid 'Bild' report that Florian Niederlechner could be at the top of a list of possible replacements.

The Heidenheim striker has adapted well to the jump up in divisions. Following promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, Niederlechner has scored ten goals and contributed a further five assists. He'd be a very much like-for-like replacement, both are tall, by no means slow, good at finishing and strong in the air.

Whether Union can afford to wrangle the services of Heidenheim's star forward remains to be seen, although they have already added Raffael Korte, Benjamin Kessel and Stephan Fürstner for free.
