Following VfL Wolfsburg's 1-0 defeat Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday afternoon, Bayern Munich were confirmed as Bundesliga winners once more.

Bayern had beaten a stubborn Hertha Berlin side 1-0 on Saturday evening, meaning that Dieter Hecking's side had to beat Gladbach to maintain any slim hopes of winning the title.

Wolfsburg couldn't find a way through and Max Kruse's 89th minute goal was the final nail in the coffin. That meant the Bavarian giants were mathematically assured as champions for the 25th time and the third in a row.

It did look like the Wolves would push Bayern all the way, especially after they hammered them 4-1 in the first game of the Rückrunde, though they couldn't keep pace with the ruthless Allianz Arena side.

Guardiola, speaking after last night's win, recognised that it wasn't over: "A big challenge lies ahead." Though he did realise that the focus needed to be on other competitions once it was secured, "We’re almost champions already, so now we have to concentrate on the other competitions.”

Bayern still have the chance of earning an historic treble, their second in three seasons. The face Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal and Barcelona in the same stage of the Champions League, as they big to repeat the achievements of Jupp Heynckes in the 2012-13 campaign.
