A dominant performance from Greuther Fürth and goals from Marco Stiepermann, Robert Zulj and Goran Sukalo saw them overcome a lacklustre Fortuna Düsseldorf side.

The game featured two of the league's most out-of-form sides and that was clear to see from the get-go, as both lacked the confidence and conviction in the final third. Fürth and Fortuna both had half-chances, although nothing that troubled either goalkeeper.

Though, when Marco Stiepermann collected the ball on the edge of the area, that all changed. Stefan Fürstner switched the ball beautifully to the opposite flank to start the move off. Zhi-Gin Lam clipped a hopeful ball into the midfielder's feet, Stiepermann set himself and then struck a sweet half-volley past Lars Unnerstall from the edge of the area.

Stefan Schröck almost added an invaluable second goal on the stroke of half-time, but the mazy run and finish were halted by the post; an agonising end to an otherwise solid first half performance.

That miss was soon forgotten, however, as Fürth added a second just after the break. A one-two between Robert Zulj and Schröck saw the former burst through on goal and calmly slide the ball under Unnerstall, in what was a fine team goal.

What had plagued Fürth all season was their poor finishing and it all came together in this game. Coach Mike Büskens was brought to his knees when Goran Sukalo stroked home Stiepermann's pass from the edge of the box, in what was a brilliant second-half showing.

Unsurprisingly, the third goal killed off the game as a contest and the home side were more than happy to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate possession to seal a huge three points and pull them clear of the dreaded relegation zone.
