SC Freiburg confirmed the signing of Germany under-20 international Tim Kleindienst from Energie Cottbus.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable start to his professional career, scoring 12 goals and adding a further four assists in 34 games this year. That has led to many Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga sides chasing his signature, though Freiburg were the lucky team to capture him.

"With Tim we have signed a young, talented player, who has already shown his qualities during his first professional season in the 3. Liga," said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. He added, "He is good on the ball and his work rate across the pitch is fantastic. We see a lot of potential for him to develop and we are looking forward to working together."

Kleindienst, who was called into Germany's under-20 World Cup squad last week, also gave his thoughts on the move: "I see Freiburg as the ideal place to further my development. The Bundesliga is a big challenge for me, but one which I am looking forward to taking with the Sport-Club."

Freiburg will be boosted by that news, though attentions will quickly return to their crucial clash against Hannover 96 this Saturday. A win would see Christian Streich's men confirm their place in the Bundesliga next season.
