Fortuna Düsseldorf midfielder Andreas Lambertz will join Dynamo Dresden at the end of the season, both clubs confirmed.

After the announcement last week that Lambertz no longer had a future with Fortuna, Dresden acted quickly and tied the 30-year-old down to a 2-year contract. The midfielder will now enjoy a send off at the ESPRIT-arena on the weekend, having spent twelve years and played over 300 games for the Westfalen-based side.

"I've had the feeling from the beginning that it could work between myself and Dresden," Lambertz told the Dynamo Dresden website. "I am looking forward to the upcoming season and join with the goal, of course, of making the leap back into the 2. Bundesliga in the coming years."

He continued, citing the Dresden boss, Uwe Neuhaus, as a major factor in his decision: "He wanted to get me a few years ago at Union Berlin and at that time he left me with a very positive impression. When he approached me again, he passed on to me from the very beginning the feeling that I was necessary."

Neuhaus himself added, "Andreas Lambertz is a mentally strong player who has a lot of experience. I expect that he will bring his leadership skills into our team, of which mainly the younger players in our squad will benefit from."
