Arminia Bielefeld have announced their first signing since clinching the 3. Liga title as Björn Jopek, who joins from 1. FC Union Berlin.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the SchücoArena side and will arrive for free, after his contract runs out this summer. Jopek has been handed the number twenty-five shirt.
He featured 55 times for Union, having spent most of his life at the club. Speaking to the Bielefeld club website following the move, he said: "I am happy to be in Bielefeld and want to do my part to ensure that we can continue the successful path of DSC together. I am particularly pleased by the great stadium and great fans of Arminia, who support their team extraordinarily."
Samir Arabi, sporting director at the club, added: "Björn Jopek is a player who can develop and, as a 21-year-old, already has experience in the 2.Bundesliga. He possess great awareness and intelligence in games and is a versatile attacking midfielder. I am very pleased that Björn has decided to join Arminia Bielefeld."
