1. FSV Mainz 05 have finally completed the much-anticipated signing of FC Tokyo forward Yoshinori Muto.

The Bundesliga side were battling against Chelsea FC at one stage, though after they completed the signing of Nathan it put the Karnival club in pole position.

He is now the fourth Asian player at Mainz. Muto joins Ja-Cheol Koo, Joo-Ho Park (both South Korean) and his Japanese national squad team-mate, Shinji Okazaki, at the Coface Arena.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal, and head coach, Markus Schmidt, explained why the club had been so keen to get him: "He is a fast, flexible and technically gifted attacker for the wings. In these positions he brings additional quality to us."

He continued, "We have already observed Yoshinori Muto for a long time, partly because we are wanted to be sure that ihe fits in Mainz and with the way we play."

Muto netted nine times in 14 games after being given his first professional contract, with FC Tokyo collecting around €3million for the transfer.
