Jurgen Klopp would be open to a move to a Premier League club outside the traditional ‘top four’, but only after he has had a break after his spell at Borussia Dortmund, according to his agent.

Klopp ended a seven-year association with Dortmund, during which time he won the Bundesliga twice and took the club to their first Champions League final since they were crowned European champions in 1997.

But during a turbulent year, in which Dortmund flirted more with the bottom of the Bundesliga table and finished 33 points behind eventual winners Bayern Munich, the former Mainz manager decided that he was not the best man for the job anymore, and bid farewell after the DFB Pokal final.

Klopp was replaced in the Westfalenstadion hotseat by Thomas Tuchel, who like his predecessor before him also managed Mainz, and speculation has been rife about where ‘Kloppo’ would end up, with both Manchester City and Liverpool heavily linked.

But his agent Marc Kosicke has said that his client would consider many the Premier League, even if the club wasn’t in the Champions League.

Kosicke told Spox.com: “The Premier League is very exciting, and we don't only mean the top four. There are other great clubs below them.

“When Jurgen signed for Dortmund, there were other clubs who were better off financially and also had more prestige back then. Regardless, he opted for Dortmund.”

Klopp has been predominantly linked with Liverpool and Manchester City, but his agent also claimed that the 47 year old would be intrigued by ‘a challenge’.

"When he enters a stadium” said Kosicke, “he feels the energy and thinks that he can create something there. He has the ability to develop things.

“It could be more tempting for him than joining the allegedly big teams and aiming for the Treble. It's always about the challenge.”
