After the 2015 UEFA under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic, Hannover 96 have signed SC Freiburg winger Felix Klaus. The transfer fee is around €2.5m and he had been handed a contract until June 2019.

Dufner and Frontzeck have their say

Sporting director, Dirk Dufner, is very happy about Hannover signing the young German and said, "Despite having other Bundesliga offers, Felix Klaus turned them all down and decided to pick Hannover 96 which makes us happy."

He added, "During our negotiations we showed him our perspective that he will be an important part of a young team."

Dufner explained that "he is the right man for the job" and "will strengthen our team".

Coach Michael Frontzeck is also happy about his new player in the squad. He said that, "Felix Klaus has the optimal pace on the wing, what we were searching for. After our scouting, we think that Klaus has a big potential." In addition, he has given the 22-year-old a longer holiday after the tournament.

Klaus' career

Despite his young age, he was still a very important player for the relegated Freiburg last season. He stand 31 times, scoring two goals and assisting a further three.

One season ago, he played with the Sport Club in the UEFA Europa League. However, he was only selected once in the six group games, and played 69 minutes against the eventual champions Sevilla.

Before his time in Freiburg, he played for Greuther Fürth. He won promotion with them and was relegated only one season later, before switching to Freiburg for €1.1m.

Klaus' possible replacement at Freiburg

A possible replacement for Klaus could be Sami Allagui from Hertha BSC. The Tunisian is very flexible, because he is able to play in either the winger or striker postition. Furthermore, Allagui could help the Freiburger with his Bundesliga experience and perhaps they will be a contender for the promotion next season.
