SpVgg Greuther Fürth have announced the signing of Viking Stavanger striker Veton Berisha.

The forward looked like he was heading to 1. FC Kasierslautern, though a quick turn of events means that he is off to Franconia.

Despite Berisha being out of contract, FIFA have ordered that Fürth have to pay training compensation to Viking - a figure of around €500,000 has been mentioned.

After arriving from Egersunds IK, he managed 28 goals and 12 assists in 106 games for his now former club.

Berisha has plenty of potential

While his overall record may not be impressive but 11 goals in 14 matches this term is form worthy of the half a million euro outlay.

Berisha has been a regular at all levels of Norway's youth teams - from under-15 to the current under-21 sides.

All that aside, he has signed a three-year deal at the Trolli Arena and joins Domi Kumbela as the Shamrocks' new attacking arrival.

"Veton is a player with a great mentality and a positive, aggressive playing style," said sporting director Michael Mutzel"Veton can be used in several positions in the attack."

Mutzel added that they had been "watching the player for quite some time", and said it "was not surprising" that other other clubs had came in for him.

He concluded saying that the club "were pleased" that they were able to convince him to move to Fürth.

Berisha tasked with helping fire Fürth to success

"For me it was always a desire to play in Germany," commented Berisha. "SpVgg Greuther Fürth enjoys an excellent reputation and has often proven that they can develop young players very well here."

Berisha and Kumbela will be key to Fürth improving under new manager, Stefan Ruthenbeck. The former VfR Aalen boss has been tasked with turning the team's fortunes around, after narrowly avoiding relegation last season. That was a big let down on the previous campaign, where they just missed out on promotion.
