Sebastian Polter has finally completed his much anticipated transfer to Queens Park Rangers.

The 1. FSV Mainz 05 forward has signed a three-year contract with the London club, though both sides opted not to disclose the transfer fee.

At 24, Polter still has plenty of potential to grow and said it is his "dream to play in England", and that he "couldn't be happier".

It is an odd move, especially given the success he had with 1. FC Union Berlin last season - and many expect the capital club to make his loan move permanent.

Polter scored 14 goals last term in 29 appearances, and looked to be set for a stay in his homeland.

Ready for the challenge ahead

However, Polter says this opportunity is "really good for me and something I am very excited about" especially "at this stage of my career".

“It's a physical league," he admitted. "But I'm a physical player, a team player, and I feel I will adapt."

He added, “I’m really looking forward to playing here at Loftus Road in front of the supporters.”

QPR and Mainz have been busy this summer

Polter becomes QPR's seventh summer signing, as Chris Ramsey looks to revamp the squad after relegation last term.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Ben Gladwin, Massimo Luongo and Jamie Mackie's return are the most notable of the new additions.

Mainz have also been busy in the transfer market, though they have lost arguably the two best player's from last year's squad.

Johannes Geis and Shinji Okazaki have both moved on for sizeable sums. While Geis has been replaced by Fabian Frei, they are yet to find a star striker to fill the void Okazaki has left.

Florian Niederlechner arrived from 1. FC Heidenheim, while Yoshinori Muto and Maximilian Beister will strengthen the team out wide.

Danny Latza and Leon Balogun have also came in on free transfers, with coach Martin Schmidt keen to improve on last season's mid-table finish.
