TSG 1899 Hoffenheim confirmed, on Thursday, the arrival of SC Heerenveen forward Mark Uth.

The German attacker, who was rumoured to be close to a move, has joined the Sinsheim side on a three-year deal.

Uth began his career in Köln, switching between Fortuna and effzeh, before leaving the latter for Heerenveen on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old made a good impression for the youth squad and was then loaned out to Heracles Almelo, where he scored nine times in 30 games.

He then returned to Heerenveen and enjoyed his best to date. In 32 matches, he netted 15 goals and notched up 11 assists.

Sinsheim side lucky to secure in-demand Uth

That prompted an understandable surge in demand for his services, and Hoffenheim were the lucky team to secure his signature.

“Uth has generated a lot of interest this last year with the manner in which he plays and his outstanding goalscoring record,” said TSG’s director of football, Alexander Rosen.

“His development isn’t over yet," Rosen continued. He said that he had "made great advances over the last twelve months" and that Uth "will be an exciting player who provides a real goal threat for TSG".

Hoffenheim have been very busy in the window

Uth certainly isn't the only signing Hoffenheim have made this summer, who have spent big ahead of a probable push for the UEFA Europa League places. Fabian Schär, Jonathan Schmid, Pavel Kaderábeck and Joelinton are the high profile arrivals into the Rhein-Neckar Arena.

There have also been some big name departures, including star playmaker Roberto Firmino to Liverpool. Anthony ModesteAfriyie Acquah and David Abraham have also left the club for decent amounts of money.

Despite the departures, Hoffenheim will be very hopeful of a much better Bundesliga season - they tailed off massively towards the end of their previous campaign and missed out on a seemingly assured place in Europe. Markus Gisdol is clearly desperate to ensure that doesn't happen again.
