On Saturday, 1. FC Kaiserslautern confirmed the arrival of Kacper Przybylko from SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The 22-year-old forward has signed a three-year deal with the Fritz-Walter Stadion side, taking him through to 2018.

It is a move that comes after the Red Devils missed out on Veton Berisha, who went to Fürth, That meant more competition for the Pole, and he has now made the convenient switch.

Competition for places now a bigger issue than before?

The Shamrocks' sporting director, Michael Mutzel, had hinted that a move was on the cards. He said that Pryzbylko "wasn't 100%" with the new competition for places.

There is, perhaps, even more strikers fighting for the starting spot in Kaiserslautern. Stefan Mugosa has returned from his loan, Lukas Görtler joined the club from Bayern Munich and Philipp Hofmann, Germany under-21 striker, meaning it will be no easy ride for Pryzbylko.

Born in Bielefeld, he grew up playing for his home town club. The sizeable striker then made the switch to 1. FC Köln, after eight years with his previous side. This time wasn't very profitable for either party and, after a loan back to Arminia Bielefeld, he was bought buy Greuther Fürth.

Last season, he finished as their top-scorer with just five goals - along with Tom Weilandt and Robert Zulj. Pryzbylko also added four assists. In total, he has notched up 11 second division goals to date.

Schupp delighted with the move

Sporting director Markus Schupp had his say on the transfer, "Kacper is a prolific attacker who, despite his young age, has already proven his quality in the 2. Bundesliga and the Polish junior national team."

"He's young, German-speaking, able to develop and brings the right mentality with him," he continued.

Schupp picked out his "athletic style of play", as a major quality of his. He concluded, "He is fast, strong in the air and shows good vision to bring others into the game."
