Besar Halimi was the star once again but this time his performance secured three important points for FSV Frankfurt. For Greuther Fürth, however, their promising start seems to be slipping away.

Opportunities were initially limited due to some poor decision making in the final third. Both teams had packed the middle and especially midfield, meaning there was little joy to be had centrally and the best chance of a breakthrough would come from a wide area.

Halimi proves his worth once more

True to form, that was exactly how Halimi opened the scoring. After his goal last weekend, he was full of confidence and he showed composure to slot home. He collected Shawn Barry's pin-point cross and diverted it into the bottom corner; Stefan Thesker's inability to close down the American proved fatal. Barry beat his counterpart once more, only to have his shot well saved by Sebastian Mielitz.

Thesker almost made up for his earlier errors by firing in a great cross for Marco Stiepermann, only to see André Weis equal to the task. Sebastian Freis also had an excellent opportunity to bring the Shamrocks level but couldn't hit the target from the edge of the box.

A solid second half allows FSV to kill off the game

After the break, FSV's defensive ability final came to the fore. Their organisation killed Stefan Ruthenbeck's side, who were finding it almost impossible to penetrate their back-line. Even Domi Kumbela and Stephan Schröck's introductions couldn't spark a comeback.

The second goal in the game was always going to be the crucial one, and it went to the visitors. Another lapse in concentration made the difference, as Timm Golley beat Benedikt Röcker in a duel to go one-on-one with Mielitz. The result was inevitable but it was a spectacular finish from the former Fortuna Düsseldorf to cap off a fine team performance. Both sides now sit on four points going into matchday five.
