The German FA announced on Thursday that Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus would miss Germany's upcoming European qualifiers due to a toe injury.

The Dortmund star missed Germany's triumph in last summer's World Cup and has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. Reus reportedly suffered the injury in his side's 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga last weekend.

Reus to miss two crucial games

The winger will not be available for two huge clashes which will have major implications in Group D as Germany square off against the group leaders Poland on Friday and will travel to face Scotland on Monday. Reus has returned to Dortmund to recover as he aims to get a successful, injury-free season under his belt ahead of the European Championships next summer.

The FA's official website deemed the 26-year old's injury as a "slightly broken distal phalanx of his big left toe" with no estimation for his return. Reus has enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season, scoring six in eight games in all competitions to help propel his side to top of the Bundesliga.

It's been a tough year and a half for Marco Reus as he's constantly been plagued by injuries. His usual ankle problems have been avoided for now with it just being a toe injury keeping him out of action for his country.

Reus has played 25 times for Germany, scoring nine times in the process. The Dortmund star should recover fairly quickly from his new injury and continue his bright start to the new campaign in order to earn his place in future German squads.

For Germany fans, the constant problems plaguing the 26-year old are frustrating as he's shown just how good he can be for both club and country. The World Champions will need him next summer if they want to become the new European champions.
