Ivan Perisic has revealed that he could not turn down Inter Milan and despite having no European football at the San Siro, joining the Italian side was an easy decision.

The Croatian left VfL Wolfsburg toward the end of the transfer window to join Roberto Mancini's side and is set to make his debut with the return of club football this weekend.

Despite helping Wolfsburg finish as runners-up in the Bundesliga last season and securing a place in the UEFA Champions League, game time wasn't guaranteed for Perisic and the 26-year old decided to move on in search of that.

Perisic explains why he left

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Perisic said, "The Champions League has nothing to do with my decision and I plan to play in it next year with Inter." He went on to admit that he could not turn down a club that fought "against the resistance of Wolfsburg for two months" in order to capture his signature. He went on to instill belief in the current squad, saying he believes "there is a lot of potential to do well."

The winger was among a handful of summer signings for Inter as they aim to recover from a disappointing eight place finish in Serie A last season. With their busy summer, many - including Perisic - expect Mancini's side to improve a lot.

Perisic is expected to start for his new side and provides plenty of quality for a team aiming for the Champions League places this season. Currently third after the first two games, Inter have started strong but have plenty to do this season to get back into Europe's biggest club tournament.

The arrival of Perisic, among others, is certain to provide a spark for a club that has fallen out of Europe's elite in recent years. The Croatian's comments about finding it difficult to turn down such a big club is positive as the future certainly looks bright.
