SV Sandhausen beat FC St. Pauli in a strange away game at the Millerntorstadion in Hamburg.

A surprising start

The fans did not have to wait for the game to become interesting, as Sankt Pauli started to attack from the first minute. But after five minutes Marc Rzatkowski made a big mistake, passing the ball involuntarily to Andrew Wooten. The US midfielder reacted quickly, passing the ball to Jakub Kosecki, who scored from the edge of the box, making it 1-0 for the guests.

Only two minutes later, Wooten played a high cross into the box for lone striker Ranisav Jovanovic, where no Pauli player stopped him from jumping and heading it home to make it 2-0.

Sankt Pauli tries to react

But it would not be St. Pauli if they would not try to get back into the game as quickly as possible. Ewald Lienen's men tried to attack and had more ball possession in the first minutes. But their offensive play lacked really good opportunities.

After the 33 minutes, the Millerntor-Stadion cheered. But the referee disallowed Thy's goal, as he was in an off-side position when Rzatkowski made the pass.

Just a short joy after the 1-2

In the second half, Sankt Pauli tried to attack and create opportunities, but they failed to test Marco Knaller in the Sandhausen goal.

Things finally clicked for St. Pauli in the 75th minute when Kyoung-rok Choi shot from the edge of the box and the deflected effort found a way past 'keeper Knaller to make it 1-2.

But only a few seconds later, Daniel Buballa fouled Aziz Bouhaddouz inside the Pauli box, and the fouled player scored the following penalty without any difficulty to seal the win.

In the following minutes, the Kiezkicker tried everything but Sandhausen were clever enough to defend the two-goal lead until the end.

Sankt Pauli stay on third place, but missed the chance to pass SC Freiburg to go into second place. Despite starting with three penalty points, Sandhausen now have 15 points and sit in a very respectable sixth place.
