Bayern Munich will take on Juventus at the last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League, in what promises to be one of the ties of the round. The only other German team left in the competition, VfL Wolfsburg, were drawn to take on KAA Gent.

Bayern and Juve meet again

The German champions faced their Italian counterparts back in the 2012-13 season, securing a 4-0 aggregate triumph in the quarter-finals on their way to an historic treble winning campaign. The Bavarians have claimed victory in three of their last four meetings, scoring eight goals and conceding just once in the process.

Bayern are in much better form than Juventus this season, who had faltered after reaching the final of the Champions League last year. The Old Lady had got off to a really poor start, but have recovered brilliantly to bounce back to fourth and are now just six points off the top. Pep Guardiola's side, however, are five points clear having won 14 of 16 league games - drawing once and losing once. The most highly-anticipated ties of the round will take place on 23 February and 16 March.

Wolfsburg hoping to make more history against Gent

Following the qualification for the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time, both these two sides will fancy their chances of making it a step further and sealing a place in the last eight of Europe's finest club competition.

Wolfsburg wil be hoping that their strong showing in the group stages will help propel them to victory in this one, as well as an ever improving domestic showing. They did draw with Hamburger SV at the weekend, but remain right in the mix to claim one of the Champions League spots.

On the other hand, things couldn't be going much better for the reigning Belgian Pro League champions. Just one defeat in 19 sees them sit top of the pile by three points, and they will be desperate to keep fighting on all fronts to continue their incredible form. The games will be played on 17 February and 8 March.
