Napoli find themselves on the verge of signing Brazilian shot stopper Julio Cesar on a one year loan deal.

The goalkeeper was one of QPR’s best players last season but could not prevent relegation, and the player is keen to play at the top level in order to retain his World Cup place in his homeland.

Although QPR manager Harry Redknapp stated “We have to do a deal that suits the football club and not a deal that suit agents and other people”, it is thought that a move away is close.  This has been confirmed by the player’s agent, Josias Cardoso, who told Marca “There is a good chance of the move happening”.

The arrival of Julio Cesar to the Stadio San Paolo would see the departure of Morgan De Sanctis, whose position had already been put under threat after the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael.  The 23 year old signed from Santos on a permanent deal last week and will be expected to become the first choice in the long term.
