"The Prophet" Hernanes has officially joined Inter for 20 million Euros on deadline day from Lazio, on a four and a half year deal.

A statement on the club's official website read:

"F.C. Internazionale wishes Hernanes a very warm welcome to the club. The Brazilian midfielder's transfer from S.S. Lazio has now been completed and all the paperwork filed with the Lega Serie A."

"Born in Recife on 29 May 1985, Anderson Hernanes De Carvalho Viana Lima has 23 caps and two goals to his name with the Seleção. He also won the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil."

"Among his honours at club level, he boasts two Brazilian championship titles with São Paulo (2007, 2008) and a Coppa Italia with Lazio (2013)."

"Hernanes has put pen to paper on a four and a half year deal that runs to 30 June 2018."

Earlier today, Inter manager, Walter Mazzarri stated that he was delighted to have Hernanes at Inter:

“Behind every role there's always a person. Just as behind every Coach there's a man. Hernanes is a smashing lad, I've always known that.”

The 28 year old took to his official Facebook page to explain why he was leaving Lazio, and why he was also seen to be crying when interacting with Lazio fans on his departure from the club:

"I would like to explain my tears because I have seen that you got it wrong! Yesterday I cried not because Igli Tare and the President were asking me to go. I did not cry for this!”

“I cried because the two teams are negotiating and I have had the opportunity to leave, the possibility to leave Rome, the place I love, the fans I love and the people I love."

“I have told the President that I would like to go for the belief that this is best at a professional level."

“I thank [Lotito] personally because he has always been fair with me. This is my choice. To follow the desire at a professional level to get even higher in football. Thank you for the love which you have given me from the first day until today, and know that I will love you forever and will never forget you."
