Centre-backs Andrea Ranocchia and Hugo Campagnaro were not called upon to start for the Milanese based club. While fullbacks Yuto Nagatomo and Jonathan were also not ready for the hosts. New signing Xherdan Shaqiri was withdrawn from the starting line-up for the Argentine, Rodrigo Palacio.

Mateo Kovačić played a ball in hope of finding Rodrigo Palacio however Nikola Maksimović did well to prevent the ball from reaching his path. Throughout the half the visitors did well to restrict Inter to a few chances, two headers most notably fumbled by Mauro Icardi.

After the interval, It was the German International Podolski who was urging Inter forward forcing Padelli to another save. Torino were also presented some chances as the game went on. Fabio Quagliarella on the break was stopped by ex-Manchester United captain, Nemanja Vidić bringing an end to a promising counter. Cristian Molinaro's dangerous effort was well caught by Slovenian and Inter number 1, Samir Handanović.

With the game looking increasingly to ending in a draw Torino were awarded a corner kick at the death. The ball found it's way to Moretti who made no mistake heading home from six yards out. With that a stunned San Siro crowd accepted defeat.
