AC Milan are reportedly targeting defensive pair Miranda and Stefan Savic as they look to regain their place as one of Europe's most prestigious football clubs.

The Rossoneri outfit had another depressing season in Serie A as they were unable to reach European football once again. Sinisa Mijahlovic was brought to improve the roster and he's reportedly targeting two central defenders to bolster the back-line.

The Serbian manager has been given the green light to spend money following the €480 million investment from Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol for 47 percent of the club. With that in mind, there are two players that have already been shortlisted and Milan are expected to initiate talks sooner rather than later.

According to Sky Sports, Miranda is the primary target for the defensive line as Mijahlovic wants the Brazilian defender to lead Milan's back-four in the future. The Atletico Madrid player has had two back-to-back impressive seasons for the La Liga side and Milan have already contacted Atletico's representatives to enquire about Miranda's availability, although nothing has been confirmed.

As for Savic, he was part of a stable defensive line in Fiorentina and he also had a less successful stint with Premier League side Manchester City. The Montenegrin defender is an imposing physical presence and even though he isn't the most technically gifted player, he's gritty and intense - two traits that should play well in the San Siro outfit. No approach has been made, however, but Milan are expected to pursue the 24-year-old aggresively.

Miranda made 23 La Liga appeareances for Atletico Madrid last season but his impressive efforts weren't enough as Los Colchoneros ended the season in third place behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. Savic, on the other hand, played in 29 Serie A games and 38 games overall, scoring two goals and adding stability to Fiorentina's defensive line.
