Torino today announced the €2.5million euro capture of defender Danilo Avelar from relegated Cagliari on a four year deal.

The deal also sees Torino's 20-year-old youth player Antonio Barecca head the other way on an initial one-year loan.

The 26-year-old departs the Stadio Sant'Elia after three seasons in which he made 71 appearances having moved from Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv back in 2012. While with Lviv he spent a six month spell on-loan at Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke 04 where he won the DFB Pokal.

Last term he made 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring four times and assisting five predominantly from left-back.

Others expected to follow him out

Midfielder Albin Ekdal's agent has confirmed that there are "12 teams interested" in his client, "eight of these are from the Italian Serie A" his agent, Martin Klette continued.

The Rossoblu also have co-ownership deals to sort out with both Radja Nainggolan and Victor Ibarbo deals with Roma needing dealt with. The club are believed to be holding out for a figure in the region of €20 million for their 50% rights to the former while Ibarbo's situation is not so clear.

Cagliari will also bid farewell to eight loanees including Dinamo Zagreb's Duje Cop come the end of the month.

Move opens doors for others

Avelar's arrival at Torino's Stadio Olimpico will increase the likelihood that either Bruno Peres or Matteo Darmian in particular will depart the Granata.

Both full-backs by trade, the former being left sided and the latter right sided, the pair made a combined 79 appearances in all competitions last season as Torino finished 9th in the Serie A.

Peres, a compatriot of Avelar has been heavily linked with a switch to the capital with Roma said to be interested while Darmian has been linked with some of Europe's elite sides such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
