According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, AS Roma forward Juan Iturbe looks set to leave the club on loan in an attempt to regain form.

The Argentine struggled in his first season in the Italian capital, providing only two goals and an assist in 27 appearances (17 starts). According to WhoScored, he accumulated the same number of yellow cards (four) as he did cumulative goals, assists and Man of the Match awards.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the forward may be heading to Genoa on loan.

Genoa looking to bolster attack

This is potentially good news for Il Grifone, a team that just lost a number of players, including attacking talents Andrea Bertolacci, Iago Falque and M’Baye Niang. Adding Iturbe on loan would certainly start to make up for the losses. Incidentally, Bertolacci and Falque were both acquired by Roma from Genoa.

The minutes and starts potentially available to Iturbe with Genoa are likely nowhere to be found in Rome. Even with Seydou Doumbia and Antonio Sanabria heading out on loan (to CSKA Moscow and Sporting Gijon respectively), the club is loaded up front.

The legendary Francesco Totti returns from last season’s squad and is accompanied by the incumbents Gervinho, Adem Ljajic, and Victor Ibarbo. To make matters worse for Iturbe’s chances, the club also signed Falque in addition to two victims of over-crowded Premier League squads— Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah.

The loan has the potential to be a win-win for all parties. Iturbe receives playing time and a chance to shine, just as he did at Hellas Verona. In addition, Genoa acquires a replacement for their departed attackers while Roma has a chance to assess Iturbe from afar. If the Argentine succeeds with Genoa, the capital club could either reintegrate him back into their squad at the end of the loan or sell him. Regardless, a potential loan could help him rebuild his value.
