It has been a tough last few years at Real Madrid for Asier Illarramendi. After moving from Real Sociedad to Madrid, Illaramendi has only appeared in 59 games in two years and was not a preferred player under Carlos Ancelotti and it looks like it won't change under Rafa Benetiz. Appearing in almost 60 games is good but with the likes of Mateo Kovavic coming over from Inter Milan, his time will surely decrease.

Trouble at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid's midfield is crowded and with James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric as the designated starters, the rest are out fighting for backup roles.

Illaramendi has been linked to a move to Liverpool, as the English club looks to bolster its midfield after losing Raheem Sterling. Reports say the deal may happen in the coming weeks but they also say that Juventus could come in and hijack the deal.

Fernando Llorente could be part of the transfer deal as Madrid look to add more strikers with the likelyhood that Karim Benzema could be on his way to Arsenal.

How can he help Juventus

Illaramendi could provide another midfield squad player. Juve already have their sights set on the likes of Christian Eriksen, Julian Draxler, and Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria. Illaramedi could provide the Italian champions with a midfielder who can control play and link up with the fullbacks and the attackers. He also has the ability to help Paul Pogba in the midfield and supply attacks.

It could be a good change of scenery for him as he as not enjoyed the playing time he expected when he moved from Sociedad. But a change in Italy could do the Spanish international good. Every player needs to switch it up once in a while and moving to a different league could suit Illaramendi. However, making a move may take him a while for him to adapt to league but he is skillful enough to do just that.
