Lazio captain, Lucas Biglia, will miss two weeks of action after picking up a thigh strain on international duty with Argentina, tests have confirmed.

The midfielder sustained a Grade 1 tear to the left thigh muscle in his side's limp World Cup qualifying defeat to Ecuador.

The Argentine had just returned from a series of muscle problem that had sidelined him for several weeks.

Missing crunch ties

Having missed his side's Uefa Champions League exit to Bayer Leverkusen in August, he will be forced to watch Lazio entertain Rosenberg in the Uefa Europa League next Thursday evening from the stands.

Before that, however, Lazio face a tricky trip to high-flying Sassuolo and the midfielder is also unlikely to feature against Torino

Handed the captaincy after the Stefano Mauri saga, Biglia has became an indispensable figure under Stefano Pioli and his influence will be sorely missed as Lazio attempt to get their campaign back on track.

The capital club lay third in the table -- a point ahead of arch rivals, Roma -- and have begun to rekindle the consistency that was a hallmark of their heroic campaign last time out.

Since the 5-0 ignominy against Napoli at the San Paolo, Lazio are unbeaten in four having overcame Frosinone prior to the international break.

De Vrij "doesn't want Man Utd"

Lazio defender, Stefan de Vrij, has told Il Messaggero that he is not interested in a January switch to Manchester United.

Since his impressive showings under Louis Van Gaal at the 2014 World Cup, the Dutch defender has been repeatedly linked with a move to England, though he has reaffirmed supporters that he is 100% focused on life in Italy.

Despite being linked with United "because Louis van Gaal is there," De Vrij admitted that he wants to "win with Lazio." The central defender concluded that "All the Dutch players" are linked with the club currently but like always there is "never anything in it."

In the meantime, the defender conceded that Lazio's impromptu exit in the Champions League was "tough to swallow", though he admits that they were beaten by a superior side.

The Lazio defence has came in for some harsh scrutiny since the beginning of the season and, although de Vrij has been missing since September 6th, he has been back training with the squad and should be ready for the trip to Sassuolo once domestic action resumes next weekend.

Lazio also welcome Rosenberg to the Stadio Olympico four days later.
