Six Copa del Rey ties came to a conclusion on Wednesday night, as La Liga sides continued to dominate their lower league rivals.

In a strange twist of fate Levante and Albacete played out arguably the most boring but also most exciting game of the evening. The goalless draw means Levante progress on away goals but the tie was always on a knife edge as an Albacete goal would have sent the Segunda side through.

Villarreal and Espanyol also progressed against lower league opposition beating Cadiz and Alaves respectively. A goal from Trigueros and a brace from Gerard Moreno saw Villarreal win 3-0 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate against Cadiz. For Espanyol a solitary goal from Jairo Morilla was enough to secure a 1-0 win on the night and 3-0 on aggregate.

Oviedo looked to have the best chance of causing an upset after holding Real Sociedad to a 0-0 draw in the first leg. An away goal from Oviedo could have caused problems for David Moyes' men, but it never arrived and Sociedad won 2-0 thanks to two goals from their Icelandic international, Alfred Finnbogason.

There were two all La Liga ties with Granada eventually making it through against Cordoba but it was far from straight forward. Florin Andone gave Cordoba an early lead which levelled the tie at 1-1. Mainz equalised for Granada on the hour which meant Cordoba would now need to score twice due to the away goals rule. Cordoba's hopes were boosted when Javi Marquez was sent off on sixty-six minutes but they couldn't get the goal that would have really piled the pressure on Granada and Joaquin Caparros' side go through to the last sixteen.

In the final game Getafe were able to add to their 3-0 first leg win by beating Eibar 2-1. Carlos Vigaray and Diego Castro got first half goals for Getafe before Federico Piovaccari got a consolation for Eibar in the second half.
