GK - Diego Alves (Valencia) 29 years old

It was always going to take a special goalkeeper to end Real Madrid's winning run and the Brazilian proved he was up to the task. He made seven saves along the way to ensure Valencia beat the European champions 2-1.

RB - Carlos Martinez (Real Sociedad) 28 years old

It took an excellent performance from Sociedad to beat Barcelona and Carlos Martinez was one of the best players on the pitch. His 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, 9 clearances and 2 blocked shots were crucial in the Basque sides win.

LB - Ximo Navarro (Almeria) 24  years old

Almeria picked up a crucial three points away to Malaga on Saturday evening and Navarro played a key part with 4 tackles, 2 interceptions and 8 clearances as Almeria hang on for a very good win.

CB - Nico Parejo (Sevilla) 30 years old

When you consider that Sevilla played almost seventy minutes against ten men it may be a surprise that a centre back makes the team but Parejo was well worth his place. Not only did he score the winning goal but he was a rock in defence with 2 tackles, 7 interceptions, 5 clearances and a blocked shot.

CB - Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia) 26 years old

When Otamendi retires this will be a game he will remember. The Argentinean was outstanding as Valencia ended Real Madrid's winning run with 3 tackles, 3 interceptions, 10 clearances, 2 blocked shots and the winning goal from a superb header.

CM - Tiago (Atletico Madrid) 33 years old

The Portuguese was in excellent form again in the heart of the champions midfield. Not only did he pop up with an assist but he also completed 60 of his 72 passes and was solid defensively with 4 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3 clearances.

CM - Grzegorz Krychowiak (Sevilla) 24 years old

Krychowiak goes from strength to strength for Sevilla and was once again a very important player in a Sevilla win. He completed 85.7% of his passes but his contribution was felt more defensively were he had 3 tackles, 6 interceptions and 4 clearances.

CM - Raul Baena (Rayo Vallecano) 25 years old

Rayo picked up a win in the Madrid derby away to Getafe and Raul Baena was the match winner with the final goal in a 2-1 win. He also had 5 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 clearances and completed 36 of his 42 passes.

AM - Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) 23 years old

The French man has now scored five goals after another two goals in Atletico's win over Levante. One interesting fact is Griezmann scored the last La Liga goal of 2014 and the first of 2015. He is Atletico's top league scorer with eight goals.

CF - Jonathas (Elche) 25 years old

The Brazilian has been in impressive form for Elche this season and has been the teams main attacking threat. He was key once again as Elche came back to draw 2-2 with Jonathas scoring one and assisting on the other.

CF - Tommer Hemed (Almeria) 27 years old

Almeria picked up a hugely important and surprising win away to Malaga and the Israeli was the hero. He opened the scoring in the first half before scoring a match winning penalty just three minutes after Malaga had equalised.
