Granada have confirmed that ex-manager, Abel Resino will return to the club as manager in place of Joaquin Caparros who was sacked last week.

Granada are bottom of La Liga and have failed to win in their last fifteen league games. The bottom of La Liga is tight though and they are just three points from safety. Resino faced a similar challenge in his last spell at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. He took over in the second half of the 2011/12 season with the club in a relegation battle and he was able to keep them up. Fans of El Grana will be hoping he has a similar impact this season.

As a player Resino spent most of his career with Atletico Madrid and was part of their Copa del Rey winning teams in 1991 and 1992 before leaving in 1995 and finishing his career with a season at Rayo Vallecano.

Resino's coaching career has saw him spend short periods at several different clubs inluding Atletico, Levante, Valladolid and Celta Vigo. He saved Levante from relegation in 2007 and has earned a bit of a reputation of keeping struggling clubs up. He has never stayed at a club for more than eighteen months and it looks like this will be another short stint as the club have only confirmed he will be there until the end of the season.

If Granada are going to turn it around they need to do it soon and they do have a favaourable run of fixtures coming up. Four of their next five games are against teams in the bottom eight of La Liga with Villarreal being the only top side. Resino's first game will be against Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend and he will be hoping his side can get off to a good start in their quest to secure top flight status for another season.
