At the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, Valencia ran rampant as they defeated the hosts, Elche, by a score of 0-4 with goals coming from Gomes, Paco Alcacer, and Otamendi.

Valencia threated right from the get-go and in the opening two minutes, chances from Nicolás Otamendi both missing the target off of dead ball chances. The hosts first real attempt came in the 8th minute of play when Damián Suárez had a shot from outside of the box misses wide to the right. A quarter of the way through the match and Sofiane Feghouli had the best chance of the match up until that point as he shot from the center of the eighteen yard box misses inches of the far post.

Piatti sent in a wonderful ball into the box from the left side and it found Feghouli who was at the right spot near the far post, beating Tyton easily right before the halftime. From then on, it was all Valencia, that goal really took all the energy out of Elche as they were never really able to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball in the second 45 minutes.

The first real chance of the second half came 12 minutes after the restart when Paco Alcácer doubled Valencia's lead. Feghouli worked excellently down the right and eventually found André Gomes who crossed it towards Paco and the young international striker made contact with the ball after he fully extended his right leg. Seven minutes later, Feghouli would be involved in the action once more as the Frenchman right footed shot missed the target once more.

Elche finally created a good opportunity five minutes after the hour mark, but Jonathas' shot was fired high above the frame of the goal from 20 yards out. A few minutes later, Enzo Roco put the ball into his own net after Feghouli and Gomes linked up down that right hand side once more, giving Valencia a 0-3 lead with less than 20 minutes to go in the match. The visitors ended their dominance deep into stoppage time off of a set-piece that was headed home from Otamendi as he met Piatti's corner.

This result leaves Valencia with some breathing room in third position. Although Atletico Madrid have yet to play this weekend, the bats will have at least a one point lead for that final Champions League spot. Meanwhile, remain in 15th, but could slip into the relegation zone depending on how other results go this weekend.
