Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas has publicly admitted that although he is not happy about his current goalkeeping situation at Real Madrid, he is eager to address it and is adamant that he will not give up on his quest to become the Madrid number one goalkeeper, above 33-year-old Iker Casillas.

Following his rather impressive displays in the World Cup last summer for his national side, he joined Real ahead of the 2014-15 campaign but has been so far unable to hold down a first-team place, which seems controversial and hard to believe given Casillas' rather inconsistent form of late.

Navas had this to say, as quoted by AS: "I'm not somebody who just accepts his situation - I don't give up easily. I know the situation might not be what I wanted, but it's here that I need to bring out the best in myself, be stronger and commit myself completely like I have done up to now. It's not the first time I've been in this situation; I'm very relaxed, although it's true I want more. I know the path to follow to achieve results and I try to learn. I think that for me, it's a privilege to be at Real Madrid and I try to show everyday why they brought me to the club.

Navas was undoubtedly one of La Liga's best goalkeepers last season with Levante, and his lack of first-team opportunities will have made him disgruntled for sure given his clear ability, but it comes with the territory of joining a club like Real. He has only played eight games in all competitions for both club and country since the start of the season, recording four clean sheets in the process.

BREAKDOWN: He has played three La Liga matches, two Copa del Rey, two Champions League and an international friendly with his native Costa Rica.
