La Liga giants Barcelona have been reportedly monitoring the progress of Italian full-back Matteo Darmian from Serie A club Torino, as a potential replacement for experienced Brazilian right-back Dani Alves; whose future at the Catalan club is still uncertain.

Barca's sporting director Ariedo Braida has suggested that the club are considering a move for the 25-year-old, who has been at the club since 2011 and recorded over 100 appearances during that time.

Braida watched Torino's 1-1 draw with AS Roma on Sunday to take a closer look at the Italy international, who has 11 senior caps to his name, making his full debut last year. He had this to say, to Italian newspaper Tuttosport: "I've known Matteo since he was born. He's good but he can still get better. Bruno Peres? For now I can say that we are less focussed on him.

Meanwhile Torino's sporting director Gianluca Petrachi also his say on a potential deal, and admitted that the club would not stand in Darmian's way if thtey receive an adequate offer for what they believe he is worth. "Only Matteo can tell us if he wants a change of scenery or a new adventure. If an offer of decent value comes in, we can sit down around a table and discuss his future.
